The days here have been a bit slow & the rains have finally came. It actually took me awhile to realize that we had transitioned seasons. I expected monsoon rains all day everyday, but instead it gets cloudy around 3, rains for a few hours, and then passes. It's quite lovely. The temperature remains the same--perhaps even a bit hotter because of the humidity.

Since my last blog post, I went camping and hiking at a volcano!! Hands down the absolute coolest experience thus far. Our campsite was very very cold and foggy. If I hadn't been suffering in the heat for the past few months, I probably would have complained about freezing my butt off. But, instead I greatly appreciated having goosebumps, sleeping in three layers of clothing, and wearing a beanie. I went with 8 other people from varying communities around Suchitoto. We cooked around a campfire--very delicious food might I add. A lot of scrambled eggs, tuna, plantains, and coffee. The hike itself was super difficult because of the altitude and straight up climb, but wow, the view at the top was so worth it. Along the trail the jungle slowly transitioned into rocky, aloe covered terrain. At the peak, you could look down and see the turquoise colored water in the crater. Such a cool experience and there were a lot of people from all over the world there.

As for this past week, my friend made me tacos....and may I just say best. tacos. ever. Consider my heart stollen. A lot of wine was drank, mountains were climbed, I got to play with some puppers, and I kind of became a kitty momma? Sunday morning a man knocked on the door saying there was a kitten in our window. Well, now theres a white kitten with one operating eye and a strong desire for affection roaming around our kitchen. I named her Calle which means street in english. I figured that was appropriate. However, the lady I'm living with was not amused by that named so we settled on Kavu.

Not sure what this week holds, but I plan on planting some herbs, taking lots of walks, and maybe taking some more photos?? Stay tuned.

Love,

Claire
